Description of the Coordinating Organization:
Centre of leisure time Luzanky (SVC Luzanky) is regional organization formed by the Region of South Moravia. Our goal is to offer free time activities for people of all the age and social groups. Luzanky has existed for more than 65 years and it’s the oldest and also the biggest leisure time centre in the Czech Republic. We Offer about 600 courses and hobby groups for more than 11 000 participants every year. During the school year we organize about 400 different events, we organize clubs of different topics and interests and offer number of educational programmes for schools. Every summer we organize summer camps and various courses for children, youth and adults. Our clients can choose from wide range of activities – arts, crafts, sciences, sports, outdoor activities, music and theater festivals, exhibitions, competitions etc. They can visit regular courses (60-120 minutes lasting meetings weekly) or come occasionally. Each of our centres-branches is little bit different, but usually there are several internal pedagogues (from 2 to 20), external workers and Czech volunteers running everyday programmes. Each of the working place is different according to the locality and character of the main activities. Volunteers will be working in a small teams with closest colleagues – there are 3 – 4 pedagogues in the branches hosting volunteers. Even though we are working with all the age groups – from mothers with toddlers to seniors – volunteers will work mainly with the kids and teenagers. They can take part in morning programmes for school classes, regular courses in the afternoon (working with closed group of 10 – 15 children or youngsters of more or less same age) or youth-clubs, where the number and characteristic of the participants differs every time. Luzanky also coordinate EVS volunteers in other organisations in Brno – generally these are organisations focused on education (including environmental education), culture (including culture of minorities) or work with youth and children. We are also open to cooperate with other new non-profit organisations
